Special Exhibit: A pictorial book of Shigeru Yamasaki’s toy ship collection

   Local toy ships reflect ship cultures across Japan; dragon boats used in races at the Hari Festival in Okinawa, Funahoko floats used in the Yamahoko procession of the Kyoto Gion Festival, and whaling boats used in old Kochi and Wakayama prefectures.

   This exhibition features local toy ships including those above out of the folk toy collection donated by a local toy collector Shigeru Yamasaki who passed away in January 2012.

Duration: 21 July (Sat) to 2 September (Sun) 2012
Time: 9am ~ 5pm (Last entry: 4:30pm)
Location: Kochi Prefectural Museum of History 3F, 1099-1 Yahata Oko-cho, Nankoku City
Entry: 500 yen (400 for groups of 20 or more, free for high school students and under)
